Saturday, 9:00 am: Devils at Falcons
The Devils scored four runs in the top of the first inning, and kept adding just enough to keep that lead until the bottom of the seventh, when the Falcons scored three to secure the victory in exciting come back fashion. Falcons 8, Devils 7.
Saturday, 12:00 pm: Hanet at Falcons
The Falcons scored first in this game but quickly gave up the lead in the second inning. However, the Falcons burst out for a ten run third inning and cruised the rest of the way for the win. Falcons 13, Hanet 8.
Quarterfinal: Sunday, 10:00 am: Direct Elevator at Falcons
This game began at 10:00 am, not 10:30, and wasnt close from the very beginning. The Falcons shut down Direct for the first four innings, allowing only four hits over that span. Meanwhile the Falcons hit seven of their nine home runs in the game over those same four innings (including SLFs first career dinger), and ran away with this one. Falcons 17, Direct 5.
Semifinal: Sunday, 2:00 pm: Xtreme Contracting at Falcons
Clash of the Titans, part XVI: Intensity was the name of the game for this one. The Falcons allowed 3 to Xtreme in the top of the first, but answered with authority with seven of their own in the bottom half. Back and forth went the score, but the Falcon defence allowed only one run over the final three innings to secure their third trip to the WMSPL Playoff Tournament Finals in the last five seasons. Falcons 12, Xtreme 9.
WMSPL Playoff Tournament Final: Sunday, 4:00 pm: Falcons at As
The Falcons entered this game with confidence, having beaten the 2010, 2011 and 2012 WMSPL Playoff Tournament Champions over the previous 28 hours, and having swept the A's in the regular season with a +23 run differential. The As, on the other hand, came into this one with a head full of steam and a hill full of fans. The As exploded for nine runs over the first three innings. The Falcons scored nine in the top of the third, but the bats went silent as the momentum swung back toward the home team. The As defence held strong and allowed Falcon runs in only the third and seventh innings, while putting up gaudy numbers of their own. In the end, it was the hottest team of the playoffs who came out on top, and earned a well-deserved championship. A's 23, Falcons 12.

In related news, a giddy SLF was seen skipping to the parking lot singing the Smurfs song after the Direct game and abruptly drove off to a local bronzing shop to have his first career WMSPL home run ball immortalized:

We are so disappointed. Both Philip and I are huge Falcon Fans. We actually wanted to name the new great-grandson Prince Jerry but parliament forbade us.
Our congratulations to the Falcons on an excellent season.

Congrats to both the Falcons and the A's for a great final. No doubt the best 2 teams in the end. Already looking forward to next year. I hate winter.
