Round Robin Game #1: Saturday, 9:00 am: Xtreme at Falcons

The Falcons entered the 2015 WMSPL Playoff Tournament with high hopes. After securing the #4 playoff seed due to an unlikely but nonetheless possible sweep by Direct over the A's in a regular season ending double header, the team was brimming with confidence. The confidence was short-lived. Xtreme scored 5 in the top of the first and never really looked back, as they lead from wire to wire. The game was highlighted for the Falcons with back-to-back-to-back jacks by Sean, Barry and DC to lead off the bottom of the 4th. The dingers reduced the Xtreme lead to only 2 as they lead 9-7, but that's as close as the Falcons would get.

Round Robin Game #2: Saturday, 12:00 pm: Direct at Falcons

This game was a good old-fashioned slug fest. Nine home runs for the Falcons (7 counted), including a totally-non-wind-assisted bomb by SLF (his first of the season that counted) contributed to a season high 31 runs. Direct never let up, hitting 5 jacks of their own and putting up 3 touchdowns against a porous Falcons defence. Direct sent 17 men to the plate in the top of the second, plating a dozen runs to take a 13-5 lead. The Falcons answered with 3 in the bottom half, and a dozen of their own in the third to take an uninterrupted lead.

Crossover Elimination: Saturday, 4:00 pm: Coulas at Falcons

A one-hour rain delay didn't wash away the hitting power of the Falcons. Defence was stellar, allowing 2 in the top of the first and then shutting the door the rest of the way. Rich defied both odds and physics with an oppo-taco that went over the right field fence in fair territory (by about a foot), and landed on the other side ten-or-so feet foul. With a hook that size, we should start calling him "Cranky"! (The crane. From Thomas and Friends. Don't you people have kids?!?)

Quarterfinal: Sunday, 11:30 pm: Falcons at Hanet

Playoff slo pitch at it's finest. A back and forth affair, in which both teams held the lead twice. Hanet dealt the final blow with a 5-spot in the bottom of the fifth to take a lead they would not relinquish. Quick hands by George in the top of the seventh (that could easily be described as "self-defence") put the final nail in the Falcons coffin.

WMSPL Championship Final: Sunday, 4:00 pm: Bradley at Storm

We'll let last year's Storm writer sum this one up:

"[Storm] crushed [the Falcons, during the regular season] on there (sic) way to the Finals. However in the Finals they learned how much it sucks to be crushed as they lost to [Bradley], 29-6."

Another year with no Playoff Championship to be raised to the rafters. Sadder still, we forgot to take a team photo after our final game. Fortunately, VP George really, really needed to take a leak before the Bradley/Storm game, so the Falcons seized their opportunity:
