chat_bubble WMSPL Power Rankings - Week 3

No retraction for last week's rankings which mistakenly had Brew Crew losing to SI Play, which actually would have affected these rankings. Back at it!

#1 (Rank last week: 1)
Position in division: 1; 1 Overall
Record Last Week: 1-0-0; 5-0-0 Overall

The Broadway train keeps chugging along, and after 5 games they remain the league's only undefeated team. This week they steam-rolled over rebuilding Re/Max, but have a tough one against Storm on Friday for the division lead, and likely, the #1 position in the rankings.

#2 (Rank last week: 4)
Position in division: 2; 2 Overall
Record Last Week: 1-0-0; 4-1-0 Overall (1 game back of Broadway for the division lead)

Storm mercilessly beat up on under-attended Surge, maintaining their perfect record against Vice President's Division teams. They won't have as easy a time on Friday when they go up against undefeated Broadway, their nemesis from Playoff Tournaments past.

#3 (Rank last week: 5)
Position in division: 1; 4 Overall
Record Last Week: 1-0-0; 4-2-0 overall (1-1/2 games back of Broadway for the league lead)

The Falcons are screaming up the rankings, making a 2-spot jump this week with a nail-biting win over a very tough A's squad. They now lead the VP division by a full game over the Rebels, whom they'll face in game 1 of their Sunday doubleheader this weekend.

#4 (Rank last week: 2)
Position in division: 3; 3 Overall
Record Last Week: 0-1-0; 3-1-1 Overall (1-1/2 games back of Broadway for the division lead)

The A's have only lost once this season, but it was to a VP division team. Their defence seems to be slipping, they're now allowing over 11 runs per game. This isn't the trend you want after such a hot start.

#5 (Rank last week: 3)
Position in division: 4; 5 Overall
Record Last Week: 1-0-0; 4-3-0 Overall (2 games back of Broadway for the division lead)

After a disappointing loss to Brew Crew last week, they rebounded nicely with a win over the surprising Rebels. Their -21 run differential indicates some luck, good or bad, has been involved in their record.

#6 (Rank last week: 6)
Position in division: 2; 7 Overall
Record Last Week: 0-1-0; 3-3-0 Overall (1 game back of the Falcons for the division lead)

After only 6 wins in 2017, the Rebels have made a huge turn-around. Yes, they lost this week, but scored 22 runs while doing it and saved their 1-spot lead over Hanet owing to their win over them last week.

#7 (Rank last week: 7)
Position in division: 5; 6 Overall
Record Last Week: 1-0-0; 3-3-1 Overall (2-1/2 games back of Broadway for the division lead)

Hanet beat Brew Crew by 9 runs on Monday, something one usually expects when a President's Division team faces a Vice President's Division team. You don't move up the rankings by beating up on the B division.

#8 (Rank last week: 9)
Position in division: 3; 9 Overall
Record Last Week: 1-0-0; 2-3-0 Overall (1-1/2 games back of the Falcons for the division lead)

An impressive win over SI Play last week was followed up by a thud against Hanet, in which Brew Crew only scored 12 runs. They remain very much in the hunt, and the season is only just getting started.

#9 (Rank last week: 10)
Position in division: 6; 8 Overall
Record Last Week: 1-0-0; 2-3-0 Overall (3 games back of Broadway for the division lead)

Despite having not played since May 8 (an eternity between games), they fought hard and came out with the victory over Greenthumb on Wednesday. They are the definition of a "Quadruple-A Team", in that they're 0-3 against President's Division teams, and 2-0 against the VP division.

#10 (Rank last week: 8)
Position in division: 4; 10 Overall
Record Last Week: 0-1-0; 1-3-0 Overall (2 games back of the Falcons for the division lead)

Greenthumb is only -1 in run differential, which means their record really should be better than it is, and they've run into some back luck. "It's still early!", everyone yells, and they're right.

#11 (Rank last week: 11)
Position in division: 5; 11 Overall
Record Last Week: 0-1-0; 0-4-0 Overall (3 games back of the Falcons for the division lead)

They weren't supposed to beat Broadway anyway. Dougothy Casino's line on this game was Broadway -35, because they're mean. This team has too many good, decent players on it to have fared so poorly. Maybe their new duds will spark an improvement.

#12 (Rank last week: 12)
Position in division: 6; 12 Overall
Record Last Week: 0-1-0; 0-5-0 Overall (3-1/2 games back of the Falcons for the division lead)

Sending 7 of your own guys out to try to beat Storm is no way to try to beat Storm.
