chat_bubble WMSPL Power Rankings - Week 4

Major milestone in the WMSPL this weekend with the arrival of the Mid-Season Tournament, aka the President's Tournament aka That Tournament that 2/3 of the League won't be participating in. Let's have a look at how the teams are faring going in!

#1. Broadway
(Rank last week: 1)
Record: 8-0-0 (3-0-0 this week)
1st place in the President's Division (1st in WMSPL)

The undefeated remained undefeated. You remain undefeated, you remain at the top of the rankings. Broadway are allowing a ridiculously low 7-and-change runs per game. Sustainable? Time will tell, but if they continue to play like this, Storm's reign over everything will come to and end.

#2. A's
(Rank last week: 4)
Record: 5-1-2 (2-0-1 this week)
Tied for 2nd place in the President's Division (tied for 2nd overall in WMSPL)

The A's dominated SI at home on Sunday, and squeaked out a victory over Surge on Wednesday, even without George in the line up. His absense will have an impact on this team long term. Still an impressive jump back up to #2 in the rankings after dropping two spots last week.

#3. Storm
(Rank last week: 2)
Record: 6-2-0 (2-1-0 this week)
Tied for 2nd place in the President's Division (tied for 2nd overall in WMSPL)

A tough loss to #1 Broadway last friday was followed up admirably on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-run victory over Hanet. Then they beat the snot out of some random VP team. Still, they've lost to the A's this year. Without avenging that loss, they remain behind them in the rankings.

#4. Falcons
(Rank last week: 3)
Record: 6-3-0 (2-1-0 this week)
1st place in the Vice President's Division (4th in WMSPL)

After sweeping their Sunday doubleheader, the Falcons put up a dozen in one inning against Storm, but it was the only highlight of that game. They retained their lead in the VP division going into the 4-team slugfest that will be the tournament this weekend. Come out and watch!

#5. Brew Crew
(Rank last week: 8)
Record: 5-4-0 (3-1-0 this week)
2nd place in the Vice President's Division (5th in WMSPL)

They had one of those games against the Falcons on Sunday but dominated the rest of the week, wrestling the 2nd place spot away from the Rebels in the VP division. They'll need to improve on thier 19-runs-per-game-agasint to sustain this success.

#6. Hanet Plastics
(Rank last week: 7)
Record: 4-4-0 (1-1-0 this week)
4th place in the President's Division (6th in WMSPL)

After losing a heart-breaker to Storm on Sunday, they rebounded nicely with a convincing win over the Rebels on Tuesday to remain in the creamy middle of the President's Division standings.

#7. Rebels
(Rank last week: 6)
Record: 4-5-0 (1-2-0 this week)
3rd place in the Vice President's Division (7th in WMSPL)

The Rebels kept it close in the first game of their Sunday doubleheader, only losing to the division leading Falcons by 6, and went on to beat Surge by 7 in game 2. They stumbled against Hanet during the week, losing hold of 2nd place in the VP division to Brew Crew.

#8. SI Play
(Rank last week: 5)
Record: 4-5-0 (0-2-0 this week)
5th place in the President's Division (8th in WMSPL)

Two big losses this week drops SI down to 8th place in the rankings, a drop of 3 positions. We'll see if they can bounce back next week.

#9. Coulas Bone Crushers
(Rank last week: 9)
Record: 3-4-1 (1-1-1 this week)
6th place in the President's Division (9th in WMSPL)

Coulas couldn't have had a more vanilla week. They played 3 games, won one, lost one, and tied one. That's not moving forward, and when others are moving forward while you're standing still, it makes you look like you've moving backward.

#10. Greenthumb
(Rank last week: 10)
Record: 2-5-0 (1-2-0 this week)
4th place in the Vice President's Division (10th in WMSPL)

Will the return of AC2THEMAX change the direction of this team?

#11. Surge
(Rank last week: 12)
Record: 1-8-0 (1-3-0 this week)
5th place in the President's Division (11th in WMSPL)

Their victory this week brought them out of the cellars in both the Vice President's division, and these power rankings.

#12. Re/Max Crossroads
(Rank last week: 11)
Record: 0-7-0 (0-3-0 this week)
6th place in the Vice President's Division (12th in WMSPL)

At least Re/Max has entered a team in the tournament this weekend, which is more than can be said for 8 other teams in the league.
