chat_bubble WMSPL Power Rankings - Week 8

The A's stayed the A's, and the home team won every weekday game. Watch for an all-haiku Power Rankings next week.

#1. A's
(Rank last week: 1)
Record: 14-1-3 (2-0-1 this week)
1st place in the President's Division (1st overall in WMSPL)

After a major scare where they nearly lost a game, they dominated the rest of the week. They haven't lost since they lost to the Falcons on May 22. Yes, I will continue to bring that up.

#2. Broadway
(Rank last week: 2)
Record: 13-3-2 (2-0-0 this week)
2nd place in the President's Division (2nd in WMSPL)

Broadway's back, all right! A dominant week for the former #1, winning 22-4 and 23-8.

#3. Storm
(Rank last week: 3)
Record: 13-4-1 (3-0-0 this week)
3rd place in the President's Division (3rd overall in WMSPL)

A perfect week for Storm, one of many.

#4. Falcons
(Rank last week: 5)
Record: 11-6-0 (1-1-0 this week)
1st place in the Vice President's Division (4th in WMSPL)

Ugh, did you see that stinker against Hanet?

#5. Coulas Bone Crushers
(Rank last week: 6)
Record: 8-8-2 (1-1-0 this week)
4th place in the President's Division (Tied for 5th in WMSPL)

Coulas moves ahead of the Rebels after beating them on Monday.

#6. Rebels
(Rank last week: 4)
Record: 9-9-0 (1-1-0 this week)
2nd place in the Vice President's Division (Tied for 5th th in WMSPL)

Very vanilla week for the Rebels. Beat a VP team on Sunday, lost to a President's division team on Monday.

#7. SI Play
(Rank last week: 7)
Record: 8-9-1 (1-1-0 this week)
5th place in the President's Division (7th in WMSPL)

They managed a tie against the A's, which is a tough thing these days.

#8. Hanet Plastics
(Rank last week: 8)
Record: 6-9-3 (1-2-0 this week)
6th place in the President's Division (Tied for 8th in WMSPL)

Hanet got their mojo back on Tuesday after a winless doubleheader on Sunday.

#9. Brew Crew
(Rank last week: 8)
Record: 7-10-1 (0-2-0 this week)
3rd place in the Vice President's Division (Tied for 8th in WMSPL)

Brew Crew drops a spot with a winless week.

#10. Greenthumb
(Rank last week: 10)
Record: 5-11-1 (0-2-0 this week)
4th place in the Vice President's Division (10th in WMSPL)

AC2THEMAX's return is close, yes?

#11. Surge
(Rank last week: 12)
Record: 3-14-0 (1-1-0 this week)
5th place in the Vice President's Division (11th in WMSPL)

A win over Brew Crew bumps Surge back to 11th place.

#12. Re/Max Crossroads
(Rank last week: 11)
Record: 2-15-0 (0-2-0 this week)
6th place in the Vice President's Division (12th in WMSPL)

A winless week drops Re/Max back to the basement.

LOL @ Broadway's back, all right!

Jer, with your boy-band looks, I always suspected you were a fan!! :)

Anyway, sorry bud, but I think this week's version screams rushed...

Filled with one liners and you have Rebels dropping 2 spots after beating a VP team and losing by 4 to a 6th ranked team last week and Falcons going up 1 spot after beating a VP team and losing (and I quote) "easily" to an 8th ranked team.

Not following your logic. Maybe you're making up for the fact that most would argue Falcons should've been ranked higher than Rebels in Week 7.

The insane changes in ranking, with no tie in or reflection of actual results on the field, are designed to throw the betting community into chaos. Reports from po-dunk county indicate the Casino is on full tilt and taking any and all prop bets to dig out of the red.

Hobo, I never considered that angle. I'm sure the Notorious D.O.U.G. will be happy to hear this! :)

Rebels were making big strides last week, "powerful" you might say. The power rankings aren't merely a re-hash of the league standings, though it does appear that way. But a team can move up or down based on momentum, hence the Rebels last week.

That momentum subsided, and they settled into a spot a bit further down, more reflective of their season-long performance.

And as for the critique of this week's rankings being a rush job: Like any decent parent, I'll be making up for this mediocre effort by putting in extra effort on something you didn't ask for in the first place: the All-Haiku Mid-Season Rankings.

I can't be the first to think of this, but I just had one of those "where have you been all my life?" realizations:

You save your Popeye's buttermilk biscuit until the end and use it to make a chicken-skin sandwich. Add fries if you're feeling adventurous!

Naw, I prefer to eat the biscuit first. While it's nice and hot. Your a savage to eat a cold biscuit...

The warm-at-worst biscuit disappointment is more than made up for because the biscuit sits soaking in chicken grease while you polish off the meat.

It's an oral pleasure you just can't get anywhere else!
