chat_bubble WMSPL Power Rankings - Week 15

Exciting times in the WMSPL, as we're in the HOME STRETCH! Just over 3 weeks to go, and the divisional races are as close as they can get! The A's lead over second place, whether it's been Storm or Broadway, hasn't been more than a few games all season, even though the A's have only lost 2 games. Over in the Vice President's division, the Falcons continue to lead, but only by a game over the Rebels, who have been a thorn in the Falcons' side all season. This is to say nothing of the upcoming Playoff Tournament, where juggernauts have fallen and Cinderellas have kissed their princes.

#1. A's
(Rank last week: 1)
Record: 23-2-3 (1-1-0 this week)
1st place in the President's Division (1st overall in WMSPL)

The A's were finally beaten again! After starting the season 3-0-1, the A's lost to the then-soaring Falcons 14-11 on May 22. They then went on to go undefeated in their next 21 straight until losing by double digits to Broadway. That's a pretty impressive streak, and the longest undefeated streak since Storm went 92 days, or 13 weeks in a row, winning 29 straight games in 2015. Fun fact: It was also Broadway (then known as Bradley Motors Shifters) who ended Storm's streak.

#2. Storm
(Rank last week: 2)
Record: 23-5-1 (3-0-0 this week)
2nd place in the President's Division (2nd overall in WMSPL)

Storm has won 7 in a row, and has kept pace with the A's almost the whole season. They're only a game-and-a-half back, though they're 3 back in the loss column. Storm faces off against the A's to end the season on September 9 at 5:00... will that game decide the league champions?

#3. Broadway
(Rank last week: 3)
Record: 22-6-2 (2-0-0 this week)
3rd place in the President's Division (3rd in WMSPL)

After losing to the Rebels last week, Broadway has won 2 in a row. Sunday's victory over the A's ended the A's' 21-game unbeaten streak, and they followed it up with a convincing victory over Surge. Broadway is only 2.5 games out of the President's Division lead with 8 games to go. This is going to be toight.

#4. Rebels (Tie)
(Rank last week: 4)
Record: 16-14-0 (1-2-0 this week)
2nd place in the Vice President's Division (5th in WMSPL)

A below-.500 week for the Rebels saw them fall out of their first place tie with the Falcons, and the only game they won this week was by default over Bollocks. The Rebels have only 8 games remaining, and will need their best to play their best if they want to win the division.

#4. SI Play (Tie)
(Rank last week: 5)
Record: 14-13-1 (1-1-0 this week)
4th place in the President's Division (6th in WMSPL)

Sports Illustrated moves up this week into a tie with the Rebels by going .500 and taking advantage of the Rebels' stumble. Their next loss eliminates them from contention for the President's Division title, but at 10 games behind the A's currently, that seemed unlikely at best.

#4. Falcons (Tie)
(Rank last week: 6)
Record: 16-12-1 (1-0-1 this week)
1st place in the Vice President's Division (4th in WMSPL)

The Falcons somehow managed to get out of their own way and pull together an undefeated week, which brings them into an unprecedented THREE-WAY TIE for fourth place in the power rankings. Their 2-game unbeaten streak is, hilariously, only 1 game shy of their longest such streak of the season. Nevertheless, they still lead the VP Division with 9 games to play. Will Dunn "Dunner" Dunn's return push them over the top?

#7. Coulas Bone Crushers
(Rank last week: 8)
Record: 11-16-3 (0-1-1 this week)
5th place in the President's Division (7th in WMSPL)

Coulas moves up because they didn't lose their most recent game.

#8. Hanet Plastics
(Rank last week: 9)
Record: 9-16-3 (1-1-0 this week)
6th place in the President's Division (8th in WMSPL)

A disappointing season for Hanet will likely see them relegated to the Vice President's Division for 2019, unless they can string together a mighty winning streak to close out the campaign.

#9. Brew Crew
(Rank last week: 7)
Record: 11-19-1 (2-3-0 this week)
3rd place in the Vice President's Division (9th in WMSPL)

A presumably exhausted Brew Crew played doubleheaders on both Friday and Sunday this week, admirably splitting them both. Then they got steam-rolled by the A's, who were upset their streak was over.

#10. Re/Max Crossroads
(Rank last week: 12)
Record: 8-21-0 (3-0-0 this week)
5th place in the Vice President's Division (11th in WMSPL)

Look out for the Re/Max, who are mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore! Down 24-9 to the Rebels on Sunday, they staged an EPIC come back to pull out a 27-26 victory and start their current 3-game winning streak. They used that momentum to carry them to a 23-run victory over Brew Crew in game two of their Sunday doubleheader, and finished their week by beating Hanet by a touchdown. Can they keep up this torrid pace?!?! If texts from Drew are any indication, the answer is a solid "MAYBE!"

#11. Bollocks
(Rank last week: 10)
Record: 10-19-1 (1-3-0 this week)
4th place in the Vice President's Division (10th in WMSPL)

Seems the karma of hilariously denying Storm some tasty vittles in their sponsor's establishment has been strong. They won their first game of their Sunday doubleheader, but karma killed two of their players during the game so they lost game two by default.

#12. Surge
(Rank last week: 12)
Record: 5-24-0 (0-2-0 this week)
6th place in the Vice President's Division (12th in WMSPL)

Another winless week gives Surge a 3-game lead for their first WMSPL Horse's Ass trophy since 2009.
