chat_bubble 2019 WMSPL Power Rankings - Week 8

#1. STORM
(4-0-0 This Week; 14-0-1 Overall; 1st in President's Division)
(Rank last week: 1)

Storm have won 11 in a row, per the algorithm over at WMSPL Standings HQ (the same algorithm says Surge has lost ONE in a row, despite being winless in their first 16 games). This means we're precariously close to seeing the "THE STREAK" tag applied to their recaps. Storm have yet to lose in the 2019 WMSPL regular season, thus they remain #1 in the rankings. Will they drop to #12 upon their first loss? Dear reader, you know me too well.

#2. REBELS
(2-1-0 This Week; 10-4-1 Overall; Tied for 2nd in President's Division)
(Rank last week: 2)

The Rebels are playing .700 ball. Their 2018 Playoff Tournament Championship was no fluke. Dan can go oppo (this MAY be a fluke). They've played 2/3 of their games against President's Division teams and they're still near the top of the division. Watch out.

#3. FALCONS
(2-0-0 This Week; 11-5-1 Overall; Tied for 2nd in President's Division)
(Rank last week: 6)

The Falcons have won 3 straight and are tied with the powerhouse Rebels for 2nd place in the top division. This despite most of their power hitters having signed out for the last few games. However, 3 of their next 7 games are against either Storm or Broadway, so we'll see how they respond to that challenge.

#4. A'S
(2-1-0 This Week; 10-5-0 Overall; 4th in President's Division)
(Rank last week: 3)

The A's are only a half-game out of second place, and have won 2 in a row. They've won 5 of their last 6. None of this is a coincidence if you realize that President Doom is the new starting pitcher.

#5. BROADWAY
(1-1-0 This Week; 9-7-1 Overall; 5th in President's Division)
(Rank last week: 7)

Broadway is 8-0-0 against VP teams, but only 1-7-1 against the top division. Have they lost more than one game this season due to officiating?

#6. BREW CREW
(1-2-0 This Week; 8-9-0 Overall; 2nd in Vice President's Division)
(Rank last week: 5)

Brew Crew has been dominating their own division, and relatively holding their own against the President's Division. They're merely a half-game back of leading the VP division, but have played 6 more games than Hanet. I wouldn't hold my breath hoping Hanet loses those games.

#7. HANET PLASTICS
(? This Week; 5-5-1 Overall; 1st in Vice President's Division)
(Rank last week: 4)

Hanet has the fewest games played in the league. Part of that is because of all the rain, but they've also got an unreported score on the league's website. To make up for the rainouts, they have 4 games scheduled on Friday's in July. It's hard enough to win in this league, but scheduling a tenth of your regular season games on Fridays in the middle of vacation season isn't conducive to great attendance.

#8. REMAX CROSSROADS
(2-1-0 This Week; 6-9-1 Overall; 3rd in Vice President's Division)
(Rank last week: 9)

Re/Max is playing .406 ball but is only a game and a half out of the division lead. That's the good news. The bad news is that of their first 16 games, they've only played President's Division teams 7 times, and are 1-6 in those games. That means they have 11 games to go against the top teams. It's an uphill climb.

#9. IG WEALTH
(1-3-0 This Week; 4-9-2 Overall; 6th in President's Division)
(Rank last week: 10)

IG Wealth is easily the most exciting team in this league. Case in point: 3 of their games this week were 1-run games. Unfortunately they lost 2 of them, which is really all that counts in the standings (at least until the league adopts standings based on Pythagorean record)

#10. COULAS BONE CRUSHERS
(? This Week; 6-10-0 Overall; Tied for 4th in Vice President's Division)
(Rank last week: 8)

Coulas won at least one game this week, and lost at least one. They have one unreported score, so they get nothing more said about them until they fix that (or Hanet does. I have no idea who won.)

#11. GREENTHUMB
(1-2-0 This Week; 4-8-0 Overall; Tied for 4th in Vice President's Division)
(Rank last week: 11)

Haven't see much out of Greenthumb this year, but more surprisingly I haven't HEARD anything. Carleton is easily heard on Sundays, but has been conspicuously silent. Maybe if he started flapping his gums more, they'd see some better luck.

#12. SURGE
(0-3-0 This Week; 0-16-0 Overall; 6th in Vice President's Division)
(Rank last week: 12)

Winter is coming.
