assignment Heartbreaking loss

It was a nice night for a ball game despite the distraction of game 7 of the Stanley Cup final.

Again it started out promising for the Falcons but that one bad inning turned up and spoiled it. After Coulas' big 6 run 4th inning of some timely hits and Falcon errors, Scott Burggraf of Coulas showed up on a defensive mission to shutdown the Falcon offense almost singlehandedly.

In the top of the 7th, with runners on 1st and 2nd and only one out and the 50 year slo-pitch veteran at the plate, the Falcons were in a position to take this one back. Unfortunately, the game ended with a double-play ball (4-6-3).

Post-game Media Interviews:

"I have been in that situation at least 10,000 times in my life and in I knew in my mind I could come through but my body did not execute for the mind." said Dennis. "In hindsight I think I should have used my 42 ounce bat."

"I feel bad that there were a couple of missed balls in the outfield." Sean said. "But it's a hitters game and our bats didn't come through for us, again."

"Sure errors are never wanted and nobody's perfect, especially me." said Coach Ash. "We just have to get our heads in the game. Going forward I am re/activating some pizza fines in effort to get the boys thinking a bit more. First, not scoring a runner from 3rd base when there is less than two out will cost 1/3 of a pizza. Secondly, hitting into a double-play at anytime will now cost a full pizza."

"I think the new fines will definitely help fund our pizza nights." said Chef Timmy. "Volume is down this year and in this economy the beer fund cannot do more than subsidize the pizza nights."

Boxscore:

Falcons 2 1 0 2 0 0 0 5
