Still stinging from losing that heartbreaker against Mayhem on Canada Day, the Falcons girded their loins as they took the field on a hot muggy Friday evening and squeaked out a 10-7 victory over the Devils.
A consistent offensive approach for this game, beginning with three in the first inning, was key for the Falcons (11-4). A five-spot in the fourth and a deuce in the sixth completed the scoring. Solid defence has been the name of the game for the Falcons this year, and on this night that was no different. Dinner had the defensive play of the game, making a sliding catch in left.
More league fines could be in store for the Falcons, as Don’t call me Dick did in fact get out a couple times in this one. Once we find out who’s been put to sleep, the league will commence it’s investigation. Contacted by this website for comment, league President Rick Traill said “Who is this? Why do you keep calling me? Go away!”
Coming up Sunday evening, the Falcons face a true test to their plucky mettle: A doubleheader beginning with a road game at Xtreme, then a quick trip aboard FALCONS1 for game number two at Storm. These two games will go a long way to showing what this team is really made of.
Game Notes: Fantastic attendance for Alumni Night… Iron Mike didn’t wear a blue shirt… Goliath contemplated playing in his gitch, but was worried that he’d distract the other team with severe dangling… Papa Bear needs a new watch… Falcon Fan Abby spent the evening giving Dinner the evil eye for not bringing Falcon Fan Payton to the game… Dinner regained the team lead in triples… The team’s ad on the milk cartons worked like a charm, as Our only friend was found…
