assignment Short Bench Stimies the Storm

The Falcons played well on both sides of the ball and moved to within a half game of first in the Sean's Division with an action-packed, tense 9-7 victory over division-leader the Storm on Sunday afternoon at K1 Stadium.

The the Storm's game plan was obvious from the beginning: Allow the one-dimensional Falcons to jack their two homers, then keep it close until the end of the game. At that point, commence launch sequence. The Falcons played into this perfectly, with Cash Man going yard in the first, and Beaver hitting a solo shot to lead off the second. After the second inning, the Falcons held a 7-2 lead, but were +2, where they would remain until they ran out of at bats.

Fortunately for the Falcons, the D was exemplary. The the Storm didn't manage an extra base hit until the fourth inning, when Dinner's hero highlight attempt came up just a bit short. The the Storm managed a home run in the bottom of the seventh, as was their plan the whole time, but the come back attempt came up short.

Game Notes: The Falcons played with a short bench, and those that did play played through some injuries as well: Million Dollar Bill (glutial), Beardo (hammy), Goliath (blue fingers), Cincinnati Red Legs (liver)...
