assignment Falcons Fall Short Of Free Beer
Wednesday 9:30PM July 8th, 2015
Goliath had 6 RBI and Curtis' Dad was a close second cashing 4 of his own, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons allowed a late inning comeback by Greenthumb from which they couldn't recover, ultimately falling 17-16 on Wednesday night.

This game was moved from K1 to K2 at the last second as it became apparent that the bugs hadn't quite been worked out of this new-fangled "lighting system" installed at K1 Stadium. Electricity, still in its infancy apparently, is proving problematic at K1. Maybe if we install candles on each of the poles?

The Greenthumb bats were active early, as they scored 6 over the first two innings. Your slightly older brother's Greenthumb, this team is not. The Falcons battled back to take a very slim 7-6 lead after 3 innings, with both Dinner (a Porter, the selfish prick) and Goliath (two-run shot) going deep in the third.

The defence held firm, holding the visitors to only two runs over the next two innings, but the home side couldn't take much advantage. The Falcons don't have the Hammer of Thor (or even the pocket calculator of Batman) at their disposal, obviously. The home squad put up two in the fourth, and a delicious doughnut in the fifth to take a 3-run lead into the sixth inning.

The Greenthumb floodgates opened wide at that point, and they scored 9 in the last two innings, including 4 in the seventh which gave them a two-run lead going into the bottom half. The Falcons sent the top of their mighty order to the plate, but squeaked out only one run to fall one shy of the tie and a hilarious TWENTY EIGHT short of the league high 44 scored by The Storm on Monday.

Pregame Checklist:
Check!Enough players to field a team?
Check!Bats?
Nope!Scoresheet?

Cycle Watch: The last time a Falcon hit for the cycle was May 19, 2010. Curtis' Dad was only a triple short of the cycle tonight.

Game Notes: Neither team was dilly-dallying, and we nearly hit the time limit after scoring a combined 33 runs. How do you fit 55 runs into 85 minutes?... Too many friends? We all that have that problem, don't we? Your solution is to have a cooler of Corona and Coors Light available for refreshment and you won't have that problem anymore... Rumours that there were so many late sign-outs due to the leak of what was waiting in the cooler are almost completely unfounded... The Falcons are looking into getting a new team glove provider, as several flies went off the tips of gloves to fall for base hits...
