assignment Falcons Vets Do Xtreme Damage
Friday 9:30PM May 12th, 2017
The Falcons scored 11 in the top of the first, highlighted by an SLF grand slam, on route to a 20-12 victory over President's Division rival Xtreme on Friday night.

Also of note in this game, the Falcons' will have to find something else to "watch"... SLF's second homer of the night was of the inside-the-park variety (and any talk of "errors" will be dismissed, right Joey?), thus resetting the inside-the-park home run watch that has populated recaps since last season.

SLF lead off the top of the first with a single, but was promptly forced into an out by Pikachu's fielder's choice. Pikachu scored on a double by Daddy who batted next, and the Falcons were in flight. Matt followed that up with his team-leading first triple of the year and SLF was fuming. The team then had 6 singles over the next 7 batters, scoring 4 and leaving the bases loaded as the line up turned over for SLF. He sent the first pitch over the left-centrefield wall to put him in a tie with Poutine for team leader in home runs. Pikachu singled, and Sr. Thompson cashed his kid with his second double of the inning.

The Falcon bats went quiet for the next few innings, as Xtreme chipped away at the Falcons' lead. In the top of the third, SLF came to the plate with two out and with Xtreme's outfield bunched inexplicably toward the middle of the field, crushed (popped up?) a ball to right field that went for an error-less inside the park home run. It was his second dinger of the game, and put him atop the WMSPL's home run leaderboard.

Eight singles in the top of the sixth plated 5 runs and put this one to bed, as the game ran into the WMSPL's damnable 85-minute time limit.

Inside-the-park Home Run Watch: The last time a Falcon hit an inside-the-park home run was May 12, 2017, and now we'll have to figure out something else to watch. Suggestions are welcome in the comment section.

Game Notes: Former WMSPL Home Run leader Andrew Carlton and guest were spotted at the game, scouting all the new Falcons for their upcoming battle on Monday... Million Dollar Bill was the victim of a 1/3 pizza fine for doing his job, and reported later that "someone will pay". Mrs. SLF suggested assigning the fine to the third base coach. She was then asked: "Whose side are you on, anyway?"... Matt, who has in only two games established himself as a league leading defensive third-baseman, let two grounders past him in the bottom of the sixth, including one right through the 5-hole... The Falcons set a high-water mark for attendance in the 2017 season, as 3.5 fans showed up to cheer on Whitby's most beloved slo-pitch team... Steve FK made it through a game without an FK (same can't be said for the other Steve), and now the world doesn't even make sense anymore... Sr. Thompson had himself a day as well, going 4-for-4 with 5 RBI and falling a triple short of hitting for the cycle... Post game attendance had those who stayed wondering what better things everyone had to get to at 11:00pm on a Friday.
