assignment Clock Kills Late Falcons Rally
Wednesday 9:30PM August 18th, 2021
A slow start doomed the Falcons to defeat in the late game on Wednesday, dropping this one 22-16 to the division-leading A's.

The sweet sound of silence was replaced with the unending chatter of Poutine, who arrived in time to begin the late game at it's regularly-schedule time. If the Falcons had been able to begin the game after a short break after the first game, would there have been time for the last two innings? Hmmm...

The Falcons were able to break the ice in the top of the first, with Dunner scoring Miner Leaguer's double. The A's destroyed that same ice, scoring their first 5 batters in the bottom half and putting up the league's six-run max.

The teams traded doughnuts in the second.

In the top of the third, the Falcon bats arrived. The inning opened with doubles from Brett Bichette and Poutine, and after Million Dollar Bill and Miner Leaguer failed to score them, Grahambo was walked to load the bases for Dunner, who cleared them. His grand slam accounted for all four Falcons runs in the third inning. The unintimidated A's responded with a six-run inning, to go up 12-5 after three.

In the fourth, Brett Bichette's three-run bomb scored all three of the Falcons' three runs in the inning. The A's won the inning, however, plating four.

The fifth began with three consecutive Falcons' doubles, scoring 2. After a walk and a fielder's choice, Brett Bichette was back at it, slamming his second three-run blast of the game. The Falcons had pulled within three. The A's weren't happy with that and scored 5. The nerve.

The Falcons' biggest enemy at this point was the clock, since the bats had finally awakened. A small rally plated three for the visitors, and the A's were held to only one in response. After six innings, the A's led 22-16.

In an inning that never happened as far as you're concerned, the Falcons scored six while recording only a single out until the clock struck midnight and the rally turned back into a pumpkin.
