The Falcons dropped their fourth in a row, and both ends of the doubleheader with a nail-biting 19-18 loss to Triple Play on Friday night.

As in the first game of the night, the Falcons held the visitors to fewer runs then they themselves scored in the first inning. The differences between game 1 and game 2 began in the second inning when Triple Play managed only three runs, but gave up a much needed MAX6 to the home Falcons in the bottom half.

The blue side gave the lead right back right away, allowing Triple Play a MAX6 to go up 11-10, but the Falcons managed to get it back with a two spot in the bottom of the third.

The lead shifted right back to the visitors in the fourth. Triple Play scored 5 and held the Falcons to a delicious (though bitter) doughnut to go up 16-12, a lead they would not give up.

Fast forward to the seventh, and with Triple Play up 19-15 the Falcons were determined. Poutine led the inning off with a single, and Dunner followed with one of his own. Goliath hit into a fielder’s choice that killed the runner at third, but with two on, Dr J followed with an RBI single. Miner Leaguer loaded the bases with a single, but Goliath was out at home on Million Dollar Bill’s fielder’s choice. SLF followed with a two run single, and suddenly the Falcons were down one with the winning run at first base. Teets moved the runners over but Triple Play ended the game on Flash’s fielder’s choice.

Game notes: With Million Dollar Bill signed out for Sunday’s repeat of Friday’s doubleheader, the Falcons now pray for rain… Shelly Two-Bags is NOT signed out for Sunday, will he reappear?... At the half-way point of the season, the Falcons find themselves under .500, and in a position in the standings that will result with them in the VP division for 2024.
