assignment Win Streak Halted at 1 as Falcons Fall to Isotopes

Like many things in life, sometimes the preamble leading up to an event is better than the event itself. Take, for instance:- Cowboy, hellbent on defying today's era of accessible info at all times, spent the entire warmup session scolding all parties (including our no-nonsense ump) with a warning that $40,000 fines will be levied to anyone talking about the Leafs game being recorded on his PVR for some woeful late-night viewing. His tone was more serious than any doctor visit tales from 2022, so we listened
- PizzaCo, sensing the Leafs demise and a direct correlation to dwindling pizza orders, abandoned shop to join both games of this GD-awful scheduling of a Friday doubleheader
- Grahambo abandoned his loved ones to fill the otherwise gaping hole at SS. If needed, the cheapest divorce lawyer online is here, and prices start at only $159
- Barry Guerrero Jr hauled ass across the GTA, i.e., going 50km/hr on the 401, to field a tired 10-man squad
In the midst of this Falcons get-together, a softball game broke out. The boxscore would suggest a back-and-forth affair but it did not feel like it, as the Isotopes found every possible gap to pile on the hits all game long. The wheels fell off in the 6th, as they pounded 12 final nails in the Falcons coffin to take Game 1 of the doubleheader, 31-15.
Game notes: Beatty showed little rust in his first AB, launching a moonshot HR to stake the Falcons with an early lead, and then made an even better contribution to the team by logging an FK in the 5th and subsequent deposit into the PizzaCo fund... Flash's 6th inning scoresheet shows a "Z3", which translates to a ZZZ or "Million Dollar Bill got tired of waiting for me to go on deck so he just batted in my place"... kudos to the catcher provided by the Isotopes in the first, who actually played defense and got the Falcons an out at a close play at the plate.
