assignment Sexy Falcons Win Fifth Straight
Monday 9:30PM July 21st, 2025
The hottest team in the Whitby Men's Slo-Pitch league stayed hot, winning their fifth straight game as the Falcons took care of weekday business with a 17-7 victory over Greenthumb on Monday night.

If only the Power Rankings were still a thing.

As of 1:22 pm on Monday, it was noticed that the Falcons were sporting the league's #1 defence, holding opponents to 11.23 runs per game, well ahead of the league's #2 defence, Triple Play at a whopping 11.5 runs per game. You may be asking yourself, isn't 1:22 pm an oddly specific time to note relatively insignificant stats on a suburban beer league's website? Well, maybe, but it wasn't the Falcons pointing this out. You see, the Storm team chat has been infiltrated. Don't worry, they don't read this website so they'll never know. But at 1:22 pm on Monday, a player, who shall remain nameless posted:

"As the reigning league MVP, and the current league home run leader (+3 over the nearest competitor), I have noticed that those sexy Falcons have the best defence in the league! They're only allowing 11.23 runs per game! We'll need to step up our game if we want to overtake them for their current #3 seed position in the playoff race. I'll do it all myself, or my name isn't Duran Spray!"

Thank you, anonymous Storm left-centerfielder.

So the Falcons gathered on the hill to watch the end of the 8:00 pm Hanet Plastics - Triple Play tilt on K1. Triple Play walked it off on a seventh inning Bill La Salle home run (his 10th of the season), after Hanet took the lead in the top half. The Falcons would have to beat Greenthumb to keep pace with Triple Play, who share first place in the President's Division with The Crew.

So the league's #1 defence took the field and held Greenthumb to delicious doughnuts in the first three innings, while scoring a MAX6 in the first and five more in the second to cruise to a 17-7 victory.

Game Notes: SLF's walk in the sixth should have definitely been a $15 strikeout. Those were strikes... Barry Guerrero Jr did his best to avoid ejection for forgetting where he was in the batting order... Despite SAYING he wants to hit his first career triple, the Taxman doesn't seem to really WANT it... It was 8-0 before the Falcons recorded an out... Smoke 'em if you got 'em: since returning to vice, Poutine is hitting .750 this season... Here's hoping nothing was left in the car by those who were constantly reminding themselves NOT TO LEAVE THAT STUFF IN THE CAR when they got home.
