The Falcons rebounded from the Storm loss to beat a short-benched Broadway squad 17-12 to cap off Sunday's doubleheader.

If you'll remember back to the last time the Falcons played Broadway, Barry Guerrero Jr had taken the team lead in home runs. For this game, he asked to be moved down the batting order to work on hitting mechanics. Also in that game if you'll recall, was the "shot heard 'round the world" -- a term I just made up and has never been used in a baseball context before -- when Handsome Jer took a liner off the shin. Jer's back, all healed, and was ready to contribute to the pizza fund to the tune of $15. Runners on third when Jer came up were left as disappointed as anyone who answer's Poutine's Grindr profile.

The Falcons hit early and often, and only trailed after the first inning, and even then it was only by one run. The Falcons scored enough to win over the first three innings, and cruised the rest of the way.

Game Notes: Why is the scorecard full of happy faces on Grahambo's line? It's a little creepy... After splitting the doubleheader, the Falcons sit 4th overall in the league, a comfortable 2.5 games ahead of the Expos. Fourth place includes a Friday night bye in the playoff tournament, and you don't play until 10:30 Saturday morning. A good place to be, schedule-wise. As the season nears completion, The Crew controls it's own destiny to the President's Division championship. They're 2.5 games up on Triple Play with two to play, so their magic number is one. On the VP side, it's a race to the finish between the Expos and Inglorious Batters (hi, Dan!). The Expos hold only a half-game lead (Monday's Expos score pending), with four games remaining. The Batters have five to go, including standing in front of the Triple Play train tonight.
