assignment Beer sure tastes good when it's free!

The Falcons are 6-0, and we all know what that means: FREE BEER!!! Yahoo!!!A 6 game win streak means we drink for free of course, the first time that's happened since August 2024. Thanks to resident Falcons historian and statistician Old Jer, our 6-0 start is the best start in the history of electronic record keeping, better than the 5-0 2004 start for the weirdly named Fundtrade Falcons.
We all wondered if the seven players signed out for Tuesday's game meant we wouldn't win six in a row. We planned to start with 9 and borrow a catcher, as Matty would be arriving a half hour late. Turns out we also started without our 3-hole hitter John, who was an unscheduled 5 or so minutes late and thus got moved to the bottom of the lineup. Thankfully we were the away team and didn't have to borrow a 2nd baseman (is that a thing?) What's the deal with the new guys waltzing up to the field whenever they feel like it, am I right? Good thing they can hit the cover off the ball, play great D and are pretty likable dudes, I guess we'll keep them!
The top of the 1st saw the Falcons get right down to business and plate a max 6 runs with a crap ton of singles. The 'topes answered with 4 of their own in the bottom half. Not much offense in the 2nd or 3rd meant a slim 6-5 Falcons lead after 3 innings.
The 4th saw DC plate one, then Taxman cashed 2 with a double. A Billy RBI single and it's 10-5 good guys. Those Isotopes can hit and put up another 4 spot, we all expect they'll be back up in the President's division next year. 10-9 Falcons through 4.
Matt steps up to the plate in the 5th, and crushes a big Duncan (that's a solo shot of course) for his 2nd HR of the season. Of course Grahambo tries to call it a "Matty", then what does he do two batters later? Hits a solo shot of his own! Nice try Grahambo, it's still a "Duncan"! That's his first HR of the year; pretty sure he's already had one HR-out, which everyone knows is called a "Grahambo". Now he just needs a home run where not all the RBIs count due to a max 6 inning, a.k.a. a "Scotty". Another RBI from I think DC but am not sure (could've been Labrecque) since it wasn't marked. One Isotopes run and it's 14-10 after 5.
John knows enough not to waste dingers when there's no one on base, and brought BIlly home with a 2-run shot in the 6th. RBI singles from Beatty and Steve gave us some breathing room at 17-10 Falcons. We could almost taste the free ice cold Bud Light!
Shohei was getting a little wild late walking the bottom of the Isotopes order, but only allowed two. 17-12 final. Free beer, baby! The Falcons are 6-0.
GAME NOTES: There were lots of great defensive plays to talk about, but I have no idea in what innings they happened, so they will be talked about here... Steve I think threw somebody out at 3rd, I forget if the runner was tagging or trying to take an extra base, but either way why try to do that on Steve? Cowboy also made a spectacular forward sliding catch in I think the last inning, to make the 2nd out... Our infield can play D too, I think it was the 5th inning, bases loaded with no outs, only 1 Isotope hitter crossed the plate after a pretty 6-4-3 Graham-John-Beatty inning ending DP (that's "double play" Labrecque, not what you were thinking!)... Every Falcon had at least one R and one RBI in another balanced offensive performance... John was a 3B away from the cycle, pretty sure if he wasn't late and hit in the 3-hole that extra at-bat would've done it... Henry hit a dinger for the Isotopes and his tied-for-the-league-lead 8th HR of the season... Henry at RF and Mitch at shortstop stole some hits, those guys look like they're 6 foot 6 with 12 foot wingspans... Nice win boys, see you Sunday for a Triple Play / Storm double header.
