I guess it's the dog days of summer, as 9 of 16 Falcons couldn't be bothered to show up for our Monday nighter against Surge. You know who could be bothered to show up? Retired Falcon Jerome (I forget his nickname) Valero, who has now attended more Falcons games than new Jer, but not Chad who has apparently played 5 so far!

Thankfully 3 spares answered the call. Unfortunately Arbour completely forgot that Matt had a player from The Crew lined up to play if a last minute spare was needed, and solicited a 3rd spare from the league spare group chat. Sorry, Eric! Scott filled in admirably despite his underhand throws from behind the plate to the pitcher, leading the away team in RBI. Triple Play Mike and Dwayne from Expos rounded out the Falcons lineup to make 10 (Thanks for playing for us, guys!).

Steve led things off like only Steve can, with an inside the park home run, his 5th of the year! Do you know who is tied with Beatty for the Falcons lead in home runs? Steve is, of course! I say they should count for the league lead and the home run trophy! The rest of the Falcons dinked and dunked some more runs, capped off by Scott's 2-RBI double, that's a max 6 to lead off the inning. A 3 spot from Surge and it's 6-3 after one.

A not so delicious Falcons donut and a Surge four spot, and the good guys are down 7-6. OK the Falcons reclaimed the lead after a 2 run 3rd, and a Surge donut (we won the inning, Grahambo!). Some mostly boring innings turned an 8-7 score after three, to 15-11 after six.

In the top of the 7th, it was time for the Falcons gonna Falcon special, a late inning offensive outburst. A Cowboy double, Dunn RBI double, Barry RBI triple, Shohei RBI single, BIlly single, Time-Out RBI double, Scott RBI single, a Triple Play Mike single, and a bat-around Cowboy 2-RBI double. That's 7 runs, the Falcons D holds in the bottom half, 22-11 is your final.

GAME NOTES: I forget when they happened, but Surge hit 3 dingers, plus a home run out with the bases loaded... At some point Billy took Matt's advice to hit one down the third baseline, but came within a few inches of dinging Steve coaching third base...
