assignment With Symposium Looming, Inconsistent Falcons Come Up Short
Monday 8:00PM August 17th, 2026
Triple Play clinched at least a share of the President's Division title with a 22-13 win over the Falcons on Monday evening.Triple Play has only two losses on the season and would have to go 0-5 if Storm (25-7) want any shot to catch up.
The Falcons (24-9-2) sit comfortably in the 3-seed in the playoff standings, only a game and a half behind Storm for #2, and 3.5 games ahead of Hanet for #4. (Maybe. Their score from last night isn't on the website yet)
On Monday, the Falcons took on Triple Play in a rather meaningless game, based on the facts listed above. Triple Play will almost assuredly win the President's Division, and the Falcons will end up #3, so it was all about the secondary stuff to both teams, but secondary means different things to different teams.
For Triple Play, they chase records. At 676 runs scored, they need to average almost 25 runs a game over their last five games to overtake the 2016 Xtreme Contracting team who scored 799 runs in 38 games. They need to win their last five by an average margin of 19 runs to beat the 2018 Storm team with a +412 run differential. And even if they win their last five games they'll finish at 36-2, which only matches the juggernaut 2015 Storm, and Triple Play won't haven't that massive mid-year winning streak to go along with it. So all they'll have is that sweet, sweet revenge they were talking about, without really saying over whom they were revenging.
For the Falcons, secondary means the symposium! Golf, a day by the lake, and golf. Add in a beer or seven, and you have a terrific way to spend the middle of the week.
So on to that.
GAME NOTES: Time-out's triple was a majestic thing to witness, just ask anyone, including the fanbase... a lot of low-and-away pitches last night to both teams, and that generally only results in one thing: pitchers crapping themselves... Shout out to TP's Jose, going 5-for-5 with two doubles, two homers and nine RBI... The Falcons' outfield gun show was on display, cutting down two Triple Play runners at home.
