assignment Battle Of Undefeateds Leaves One Team Undefeated
Sunday 8:00PM May 31st, 2026
The 6-0 Falcons were bested by fellow undefeated 8-0 Triple Play on Sunday evening 17-6 to open the Falcons' doubleheader.

A search on this very website you're currently reading for "one bad inning" will return a plethora of recaps
where the Falcons snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by booting the ball around for only 1 of the seven innings played. In this game, 'twas the opposite: We only had one GOOD inning. It happened in the second, and the blue side was hoping it was a harbinger of good tidings for the rest of the game.

Nope.

Five "regular" (meaning on-time) sign-outs and one "irregular" (meaning, past 4pm on game day when, as it turns out, another 3-4 weeks of recovery is needed and how, exactly, does one not sign out before 4 pm on game day when it's fairly clear you won't be back for a while, and this DOES NOT mean you won't be welcomed back with open arms when it's time because we're all rooting for you but really still: if you know you're weeks away from returning, be on time with your sign-outs BUT I DIGRESS) sign-out meant the Falcons would be playing two on this Sunday with only 10 players meaning no rest for anyone. But at least the weather was nice! Anyone complaining this summer about it being "too hot" will be getting a karate chop to the throat.

The weather was the best thing about this game. A Speed Bump single to open things was quickly wiped out two batters later by a Time Out (nickname pending, since it wasn't really coined until later in the evening) fielder's choice. Four batters up, three retired, and a big fat doughnut to begin the night for the visitors. Triple Play suffered no such performance anxiety, plating five and stranding their MAX6 run on third base.

Down 5-0 after one, the Falcons woke up three innings early, as the offence doesn't typically show up until the fifth. Singles by Million Dollar Bill, Taxman (new nickname Mmm Bop pending), Shohei (who didn't even pitch in this one), and Speed Bump were complimented by two-baggers from SLF, John (least Italian-looking dude with TWO Italian names?) and the future-dubbed Time Out put up a MAX6 to take the lead for the shortest possible amount of time. Triple Play scored another fiver in their half, and never looked back.

GAME NOTES: 0-6-0-0-0-0-0 is no way to win a softball game... After going 0-for-3 in this one, Dunner ended his 94-game on-base streak... New Jer's late sign-out had nothing to do with how we played... Other than in the MAX6 second inning, the Falcons never sent more than 5 batters to the plate in any inning, and it was only one where there were 5... A pretty good showing of 5 fans for the Falcons' side was dwarfed by the home team, whose cheering section will have lots to get excited for on the Triple Play Revenge Tour '26.
